Candle Care Tips for Long-Lasting Aromas
HOW TO USE YOUR CANDLES
The first time you light your candle is crucial! Make sure your candle is placed in a room with good airflow, away from any draughts or fans that might lead to quick or uneven burning.
For the initial burn, it's important to let the wax melt across the entire surface to the edges of the candle container. Failing to do this might result in the wick getting buried in the wax or cause the candle to 'tunnel', which leaves excess wax along the sides of the container and can shorten the overall burn time.
Allowing your candle to burn for too long at a stretch can lead to the wick shifting or leaning. It's best to limit each burning session to no more than 2 hours.
Always keep about 1cm of wax at the bottom of your candle container. Never let the candle burn all the way down to the base of the wick-put out the flame while there's still a bit of wax left. This helps prevent the wick from moving and the flame from generating dangerous levels of heat in one area of the container.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CANDLE WICKS
Make sure to keep the wax pool free from wick trimmings and used matches, as any debris in the wax can serve as an additional wick, causing your candle to burn more quickly than intended.
Once you've safely put out the flame, it's important to re-centre and straighten the wick, preparing it for its next use. Allowing the candle to burn for an extended period might cause the wick to shift or lean. Should you notice the wick nearing the side of the container, extinguish the flame immediately. Wait for it to cool and be safe to touch before straightening the wick.
Wicks that are too long or bent can lead to a larger flame or even cause your candle to smoke and soot. To prevent this, trim the wick to 5mm after the candle has cooled down. Adopting this trimming practice before each use will help maximise the life and enjoyment of your candle.
IMPORTANT SAFETY ADVICE
Never leave a lit candle unattended. Ensure it is KEPT OUT OF REACH of children and pets.
The candle container will become hot after burning – let it cool down completely before touching. DO NOT replace the lid on the jar until the wax has fully solidified again. (Wait at least 30 minutes).
Our candles are crafted from natural coco soy wax – you might notice some variations such as frosting, cracking, or sweating in the wax. These characteristics are typical for natural wax and do not affect the candle's performance.
Candles made from natural wax are sensitive to temperature changes. We advise keeping them out of direct sunlight and avoiding exposure to significant temperature fluctuations.
